Welcome to HCSA Kicks For Kids

The start for Kicks for Kids has been delayed for two weeks due to the weather and field conditions. The first training session will now be on Monday, March 15. We will extend the season to compensate for the delayed start.

HCSA is offering a new recreational youth soccer program, Kicks for Kids! The new Kicks program for U7 to U14 players is an 8 week program beginning March 1, 2010 and concluding on May 15 (one week intermission during spring break). Training sessions will be held once a week during the week with a weekly game on Saturday. All practice sessions and games will be held at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

Kicks brings a modern philosophy to player development at the recreational level. Practice sessions will follow an age-appropriate curriculum designed by the HCSA Director of Coaching and Assistant Director of Coaching. Each team will be assigned a parent volunteer coach to coach games and assist with practices. Practice sessions will be lead by HCSA staff coaches with assistance from the team's parent volunteer coach. With this philosphy, equilibrium is established in practice sessions throughout the program and teams within each age group follow a consistant curriculum. The practice curriculum is designed to teach age-appropriate technical and tactical skills in a fun environment that will foster lifelong appreciation and enjoyment in the game of soccer.

Kicks for Kids will emphasize maximizing each player's opportunity to have "touches" on the ball in matches and therefore will follow the United States Youth Soccer Association's recommendations for small-sided games in the following formats:

U7 - 4 v 4 with maximum rosters of 8 (no goalkeeper)
U8 - 4 v 4 with maximum rosters of 8 (no goalkeeper)
U10 - 6 v 6 with maximum rosters of 10
U12 - 8 v 8 with maximum rosters of 12
U14 - 8 v 8 with maximum rosters of 12

Teams will be made in the above age groups. Criteria for forming teams will be age group, gender, and skill level. Separate boys and girls divisions will be made only in age groups where participation numbers allow. Every effort will be made to create teams of equal strength. A chart of the age breakdowns can be found here.

The first day of the season will be Monday, March 1. Players should be dressed to play, however this will be a very informal day for players to meet their coaches and teammates.

Your team's training session will be weekly on either Monday or Tuesday. The last training session of the season will be May 10 or 11. Unless there is an excess in training cancellations due to weather events, sessions that have been cancelled will not be rescheduled.

Games will be weekly on Saturday mornings beginning March 6 and ending May 15. Any games that may be cancelled due to weather conditions will be rescheduled on the following Friday.

All players will be provided uniform shirts.

Cost is $45 per player.

Registration now extended until March 5.
