New Kick-off – Field of Dreams Fulfillment Campaign

The TMSC fields are not paid in full. HCSA financed field construction with a loan from four local banks to complete the project as early as possible and to start play on the fields in 2008. With five years remaining on the loan we owe a total of $870,000. We currently have pledges for approximately $560,000; however, payments on the largest pledges extend for seven years. Long story short, HCSA needs to raise $450,000 more – and we need some 2011 contributions ASAP in order to make the annual loan payment this December.

The good news is that the Campaign Committee of Chip Williamson, John Spinetto, Gwen Deng, Mark Gould, and Art Rex have a solid plan. Work is beginning now in one-on-one visits plus development of grant requests. However, success will come from the participation of hundreds of donors – families and individuals – giving whatever contributions they are able to offer. Mark Gould has enlisted Chuck Mantooth to help in a Community Gifts initiative. In November they will send 40 trained volunteers out to visit 200 households. These volunteers will share the story and ask for gift pledges of $100 – $500 per year for 3 – 5 years.

The HCSA – TMSC story is about the kids – having fun, learning soccer skills, getting healthy exercise, learning team lessons and sportsmanship. Not every child’s experience is everything a parent hopes for every day; nonetheless, participation and opportunities have more than doubled since 2008. HCSA leaders work diligently with all involved to be the best program we can be.

Another side of the TMSC story is this magnificent community asset. TMSC is another gem for the High Country quality of life. The HCSA night at the September 27 ASU game illustrated that well – good family picnic; kids involved on the sidelines and in the half-time game as well as in MTN18 interviews; competitive ASU Soccer; record crowd; good fellowship in the stands; and Parks & Rec games on Field 1. All this came after a 6PM downpour. When the parking lots are fixed before this school year is complete, we will take another giant step forward.

How can you help? The Mack needs you! First, we must have donors, and we hope to put over a hundred new donors on the donor wall. The starting level there is $500, and that could be $100 per year for 5 years; obviously, $200 X 5 brings a move up the Donor Wall. Every gift matters – $1, $5, $25, pennies from piggy banks. Gifts are lasting investments in the HCSA mission. We also need volunteers for many tasks and ambassadors to spread the good word.
